On The Day

The countdown has started to the Newark Carnival 2013, with only a few months to go before the town’s biggest community event kicks off.

After a wet (and cold) yet massively successful event in June 2012 to celebrate the Her Royal Highness The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the committee and community are already getting ready for the 2013 event.

The date of next year’s Carnival is Sunday, 16th June 2013, and will form part of the Newark Festival Weekend, where events will be taking part across the town.

The carnival will start from the Newark Market Place at it’s traditional time for 2pm, with floats and walkers dressed in this years theme “All About Newark”.

We’re open to any idea about the town’s vast history, from the Civil War, to the local folk stories, and the towns recent past – so, whatever you think of for your groups theme, make it local!

If you would like some idea, why not visit it our theme page, or even better, register right now!

Below is this years route, which we have kept the same for 2013 after getting great feedback from participants and spectators alike:

We will start from Newark Market Place at 2pm, head down Stodman Street, turn left onto Castlegate and follow the road down Lombard Street, then at Beaumond Cross turn left along Middlegate, then along Appletongate.

We’ll then turn left along Queens Road, then left on to Northgate, along Bargate, then take our only right over Trent Bridge and finish at Riverside Park.
