Carnival 2015 set to be “All The Fun Of The Fair”!

The countdown for the Newark Carnival 2015 has already started, and now we can finally reveal the theme for this year’s event.

This June, the town will be set for “All The Fun Of The Fair” as groups will roll-up, roll-up and come on inside as the parade sets off in June.

The date for the Carnival has been set for Sunday, 21st June, with the committee working in conjunction with Newark Town Council, and join forces with the Newark Festival.

“We’ve had some huge success with the choice of theme in the past, so we really want everyone to take part this year” commented Carnival Chair Mrs. Elaine Ellison.

Mrs Ellison continued “We’ve joined with the Newark Festival again this year making Sunday 21st June Family Fun Day, a day not to be missed and as the theme suggests we are all ready for the fun of the fair”.

“The Carnival procession is open to everyone, your interpretation of All the Fun of the Fair can be whatever you want – you could be ducks to be hooked or perhaps you are coconuts – a little shy!! Or perhaps you would rather showcase what your group does in the town, – whatever you want to create, you can” Mrs Ellison added.

Carnival’s creativity co-ordinator, Mrs Danusia Sawoscianik-Murray said; “Groups have a blank canvas with this year’s theme, you can create whatever fits in with your group.”

“We want young and old to take part, and to see as many themes on parade as we can. We really can’t wait to see what the town will create! You really will be on show, not only on the streets, but at the festival site too.” Said Mrs Danusia Sawoscianik-Murray.

“We hope All the Fun of the Fair theme will be the most colourful theme we have set so far we really hope as many local groups and organisations will want to take part in Carnival 2015” commented Howard Newport, Carnival Community Co-Ordinator.

“Carnival 2014 was our best parade ever – it was definitely loud and colourful – we want to break our previous record of 40 groups, and we believe that we can do this in 2015.

“We are also looking for local businesses to help to sponsor the event as it costs about £6000 each year to put on the town’s biggest community event. If you would be interested, log online to the website to find out more” www.newarkcarnival.com Carnival Logistics Director Mr Steve Beeching added.

“Working with the Newark Festival this year, they are giving groups a fantastic opportunity to show off their group at the end of the parade. They are setting up a showcase at the festival site on Riverside Park, with groups being given the chance to book a stall and show the town just what they are about. We’ll have more news on this in the next few weeks.” Mrs Ellison concluded.

“We can’t wait to see you all this year’s Carnival, we really hope that it is our biggest parade to date” Mr Newport added.

All themes are based on a first-come, first-served basis, and any group can take part in the Newark Carnival 2015. Registration is simple, and online at www.newarkcarnival.com.
